WRPS Career Planning Education Goals

  • To ensure that all WRSD students complete high school with the tools that allow them not only to make appropriate career decisions when they leave school, but to also be able to use these tools throughout their lives
  • To increase the numbers of students transitioning to post-secondary
  • To increase high school completion rates

Common Principles For WRPS Career Planning Education

  • All students are presently involved in career planning
  • Career planning involves the integration of all experiences – academic, extracurricular, off-campus education, community involvement as well as traditional career planning activities
  • Career planning education needs to be sequential and comprehensive
  • All teachers have a role in career planning education
  • Off-campus education should be an integral part of career planning with as many students as possible participating
  • There needs to be an on-going relationship between the schools and the community including industry and post-secondary institutions
