Visions West Outreach School Continues to Grow

The education system in Alberta continues to evolve, and so does programming for students within Wild Rose School Division. Illustrative of this are the changes that have occurred in our outreach schools within the past few years.

The past two years have seen significant changes in the Division’s Outreach Schools program as WRSD has responded to the changing educational landscape and our commitment to provide high quality learning experiences for all students. In keeping with this commitment, WRSD has enhanced programming in its Outreach Schools beginning with the 2014-15 school year in Drayton Valley. A community based approach to bringing alternative, flexible, student centered programming has opened up opportunities for learning and belonging. To achieve this renewed purpose, WRSD has designated dedicated administration to the school and increased staffing.

Visions West Outreach School in Rocky Mountain House celebrated the grand opening of their new location in the old provincial building in February of 2015. The 2015-16 school year will see an expansion of programming in the Visions West Outreach School. To shepherd this process of change, Wild Rose School Division is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Bobbie-Jo Douglas as the new Principal of Visions West Outreach School.  This appointment will take effect for the beginning of the 2015-16 school year.

Ms. Douglas assumes this position after spending the past 5 years as the Principal of Pioneer Middle School. WRSD is looking forward to the vision, caring and nurturing energy that Ms. Douglas brings to the position, helping meet the Division’s goals of Improving Life Chances for All Students.

The search for Principal of Pioneer School will be undertaken over the course of the next few weeks.
