WRSD Announces New Superintendent of Schools

New WRSD Superintendent, Brad Volkman

Wild Rose School Division Board of Trustees is pleased to announce its new Superintendent of Schools: Mr. Brad Volkman.

The Board selected Brad Volkman because of his passion for learning and instruction as well as his substantial educational and administrative experience.

Mae Tryon, Chair of Wild Rose School Division Board of Trustees, stated, "We were pleased that our extensive advertising resulted in excellent applications. Mr. Volkman was selected from a field of outstanding candidates. We believe that Brad's values, principles and organizational skills; his knowledge of the Division; his strong work ethic; and his belief in community connections and partnerships will propel Wild Rose School Division forward."

Brad comes to Wild Rose School Division with significant educational and administrative experience. He has been in Prairie Rose School Division for the past 27 years which have included the following roles:

  • 8 years as Principal of Schuler School – 70 students in a multi-graded K-9 school
  • 2 years as Principal of Irvine School – 330 students in grades K–9
  • 5½ years as Principal of Eagle Butte High School – 470 students in grades 10–12
  • 4½ years as Assistant Superintendent - Human Resources
  • 2 years as Chief Deputy Superintendent - Human Resources

Prairie Rose School Division Superintendent Brian Andjelic says, "Wild Rose School Division is indeed fortunate to have Brad Volkman as their new Superintendent. Brad has been very successful in all the positions he has held for many years here including teacher, school leader and Chief Deputy Superintendent of Human Resources. He has served in a wide variety of school settings from rural remote to our consolidated high school. While we are sad to lose Brad, we wish him every continued success in his new position."

Brad’s training includes a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Lethbridge and Master of Arts Education in Administration and Supervision from San Diego State University.

Brad comments, “I am thrilled and proud to join the team at Wild Rose School Division. Wild Rose has an excellent reputation as a progressive learning organization with a strong focus on the learning and well being of students and staff. I am looking forward to working with staff, parents and communities as we strive together to improve the life chances of ALL students.”

Brad and his wife, Korene, have been married for 30 years and have 2 adult children that live in Edmonton. Faith, family and fitness are a big part of Brad’s daily life.

Brad will assume the role of Superintendent on August 1, 2015, and will be spending a few days in Wild Rose prior to the end of the 2014-15 School Year to get acquainted with staff and administration.
