The Student Support Services Department in the Wild Rose Public Schools uses a Collaborative Decision Making Process. This ensures that all the partners who need to be involved in the planning and delivery of a student’s educational program are working together.

The goal of collaborative problem solving is to develop a relevant and effective teaching and intervention plan. This enables a student to learn and be successful by addressing their learning strengths and needs.

The Collaborative Decision Making process includes:

  • Assessment of the student’s strength as a learner
  • Assessment of the learning environment including an analysis of the instructional content and techniques
  • Selection of content and techniques that provide opportunities for success

This department also supports the philosophy and practice of “Inclusionary Education”.

Student Support Services is under the supervision of the Director - Student Support Services. This involves coordinating fiscal and human resources needed to deliver a full range of services and programs for student success as well as overseeing Student Support Services personnel and staying current on current learning research/pedagogy as well as counseling services offered in each of our division schools. The Director - Student Support Services also liaises with outside agencies including Alberta Education surrounding issues that affect Student Support Services and the students we serve.
