Administrative Procedure 353

Students at Risk

Wild Rose Public Schools cooperates with government agencies when dealing with certain students at risk that result in severe attendance and/or behaviour problems.  Furthermore, the Division will endeavour to help parents become aware of the various government agencies available to assist students at risk.

1.      The Principal, upon identifying an attendance and/or behaviour problem will communicate the concern with the student and parents. This will include expectations that the student must meet.

2.      If there is no improvement on the student’s part, a letter will be sent to the parents indicating the seriousness of the problem. A meeting between the parents and the school will be arranged, if possible.

3.      At this meeting, (2) above, the Principal shall provide information to the parents as to various government agencies available to students at risk. The Principal shall also outline conditions under which the student may stay in school.

4.      If the student fails to meet these conditions, (s)/he may be suspended from school and referred, together with recommendations, to the Superintendent.
