On your mark, get set, go! Students at Breton High School practiced teamwork, sportsmanship and athletics at the annual Junior High Track Meet on May 16. Showcasing their school and their talents, students competed in various events with a great sense of pride and unity.
Principal Lara Jollymore says, “BHS has hosted a Junior High Track Meet for many years. Under the great planning and guidance of our Athletic Director, Gerry Drebert, we plan a day of events including short and long distance running, shot-put, discus, high jump, long jump, triple jump and more. We open up our meet to many other local schools and host an awesome day of sportsmanship, skill and relationship-building”.
Lara adds, “Students are able to connect and continue developing bonds that have been established throughout the year in other various sports. The great thing about track and field is that there is something for everyone; running, jumping and throwing. You don't have to be an expert in all three; you can showcase your talent in just one, and have a day cheering on peers and making new friends whilst participating in your own events”.
Supporting one another throughout the day, students at Breton High School are true examples of the importance of perseverance, cooperation and connection.
