The Candidate

We’re seeking a top-tier candidate with a proven track record in accounting and financial acuity. The ideal individual will possess exceptional analytical prowess, a keen eye for detail, and impeccable organizational abilities. Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ongoing monitoring and review of accounting procedures to ensure efficiency and security in financial processes
  • In collaboration with the Finance team, direct the day-to-day accounting operations of the Division, ensuring accuracy of all financial information and reporting
  • Prepare financial reports, including audited financial statements, related government reports and other financial reports needed by senior management, schools, and various departments
  • Manage and maintain the Division’s financial software
  • Coordinate the annual audit conducted by Board appointed external auditors
  • Perform capital asset accounting, reporting and reconciliation
  • Monitor cash flow and short-term investments
  • Support the Associate Superintendent, Business and Finance with insurance and risk management
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of the Division budget
  • Collaborate with senior leaders, schools, and departments to establish effective financial processes, procedures, and controls across the Division. 
  • Participate in the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of Board policies and administrative procedures and controls across the Division
  • Support the other Finance and Payroll department staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned. Duties and responsibilities may be adjusted to reflect the needs of the division and the skills or experience of the successful candidate

Formal Education

  • Degree or an advanced degree in accounting and/or finance
  • CPA certified or in the process towards completion of CPA designation

What We’re Looking For:

  • Knowledge of appropriate statutes within the province and governmental legislation
  • Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret goals, objectives, and
  • policies
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in business and financial operations
  • Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office/spreadsheets and Google platform
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills to maintain positive working relationships
  • Ability to create meaningful, systemic, and sustainable change
  • Capacity to make reasoned decisions, and ability to recognize sensitive situations and potential solutions
  • Aptitude to meet deadlines and work with minimal supervision that may require flexibility to work additional hours during peak times
