Board Highlights - January 24, 2023
Accountability Reports
The Board heard the highlights from the 2021 -2022 Student Support Services / Early Learning Accountability Report which included information about how many students WRSD has with exceptional needs and the resources and strategies used to address these needs. The new Director of Student Services also shared some of her key strategies moving forward.
Canada Revenue Automobile Reimbursement Rates
The Associate Superintendent, Business & Finance shared that the new federal rate has increased to 68¢ for the first 5,000 km and 62¢ for every kilometre thereafter. This is an increase from the current rates of 61¢ for the first 5,000 km and 55¢ for every kilometre thereafter. In June 2022 The Board of Trustees passed a motion to follow the federally recommended reimbursement rates for mileage compensation. These rates are approved by Canada Revenue Agency as a reasonable reimbursement rate and is also the rate used by a number of school boards.
February Board Meeting
The Board passed a motion changing the date of the regular February Board meeting to Tuesday, February 28, 2023 to be held in person at Division Office in Rocky Mountain House.
Board School Tours
The draft schedule for the 2023 Board School Tours was reviewed and discussed. The Board appreciates the opportunity this provides to meet with school administrators and teachers. They will also meet with groups of students at all schools to engage them in open discussions about their experiences at their respective schools.
