March 22, 2022 Board Meeting Highlights

Three Year Capital Plan

Each year school division’s assess their school capital requirements and prioritise proposed projects based on defined priorities. These projects are identified in a Three-Year Capital Plan that must be approved by the Board and submitted to Alberta Education annually by April 1.  WRSD’s three priorities are; 1) Right size Breton Schools, 2) Right size Rocky Schools and 3) Frank Maddock High School - Major Modernization.  The Board approved the 2023-2026 Three Year Capital Plan.

Edwin Parr Nominee

Our Director of Human Resources and Principal of Frank Maddock High School introduced our Edwin Parr nominee, Ben Southwick to the Board of Trustees.  The annual award will be celebrated at a dinner next May where the winner of the Zone 4 Edwin Parr award will be announced.  Our division is pleased to have such a strong candidate who exemplifies all of the attributes we look for in a first year teacher.   

Frank Maddock High School Out of Country Field Trip

With some travel restrictions lifted, the board reviewed carefully the proposal for a few Frank Maddock High School students to attend the National Student Leadership Summit in Indianapolis, Indiana.  They approved the trip in principle  with the following conditions:

  • Contingency plan must be provided for any travel interruptions and parents assume all responsibility financially, legally and for time required due to any delays or expenses incurred during the trip.
