A PART TIME GRADE 7-12 TEACHER

For Visions West Outreach / Kootenay School in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta

 
Applications are invited for a Probationary Part Time Grade 7-12 Teacher.

We are seeking a passionate and resilient teacher with proven experience working with highly traumatized, at-risk youth. The ideal candidate will bring a trauma-informed approach, demonstrate mastery in de-escalation strategies, and possess a deep desire to connect academic content to experiential, outdoor learning opportunities.

This is not a traditional teaching role—it requires flexibility, creativity, patience, and the ability to build trust and connection with students who may have significant barriers to learning. The position is expected to be approximately 0.6 FTE.

Duties will commence on August 25, 2025.  

Kootenay School provides instruction to students aged 12 - 18 living in a group home. Visions

West Outreach School offers flexible programming to students in grades 10-12. Our flexibility

allows students to work at their own pace while capitalizing on their unique learned styles. We

are located in Rocky Mountain House and have five teachers on staff and approximately 100

part time students.

A complete package will include cover letter, resume, names and contact information for three references and a copy of their Alberta teaching certification in a single Google or pdf document.

The successful applicant will be required to provide an original, satisfactory, and recent (within six months) Criminal Record check with vulnerable sector as a condition of employment.
