Spring Budget 2025-2026
The Associate Superintendent, Business & Finance shared the 2025-2026 Spring Budget, which is predicting a $645,475 deficit. The deficit will be covered by operating reserves, which will mean the Division will be at its minimum balance of 1% operating reserve. The supplementary information in the Annual Budget Report provides additional details.
Education Plan: 2025-2026 Update
The Board reviewed and approved the 2025-2026 Update to the 2022-2026 Education Plan. The plan continues to focus on the four domains, while honouring the division’s motto, mission, vision, values and priorities. Next year the newly elected Board and Superintendent will create a new 2026-2030 Education Plan.
Locally Developed Courses
The Board approved the list of locally developed courses that are available to be offered in the Division, some of which are renewals, and some that are new for next year.
Trustee Activities
The Board discussed the Board School Tours that they have been doing this spring, and everyone agreed that the current format of visiting as a whole board is the most effective. The Board values the feedback that they receive during these tours and it greatly informs their advocacy. They also shared the highlights from their recent meetings and events and looked forward to the upcoming events that they will be participating in. The Board also directed administration to provide a summary of the difference between governance and administration roles which will be posted on the Division website.
