Wild Rose School Division
Drayton Valley Community Engagement
May 5, 2021
Wild Rose School Division is hosting a virtual community engagement meeting at 7:00p.m. on May 5, 2021. The purpose of this meeting is to share information regarding a replacement school being built beside Frank Maddock High School. Once construction is completed, both H.W. Pickup School and Drayton Christian School buildings will be demolished. The new school is projected to open for the 2023-24 school year.
At this virtual meeting, we will share schematic drawings of the school’s footprint, parking areas, bus drop off, parent drop off, elevations, internal design and security features. We will inform the public about opportunities for suggesting a possible name for this replacement school. We also desire to address questions or concerns from the community.
As such, in preparation for this virtual meeting we are inviting interested community members to use the following form to submit questions ahead of time. We will be accepting questions using this form until April 25, 2021. If time permits, we will also take a few additional questions at the end of the live virtual event on May 5. Instructions regarding how to connect to this virtual meeting will be provided a few days prior to the meeting.
Thank you in advance for your interest in this exciting project. We look forward to another new school in Drayton Valley that will offer 21st century learning opportunities for the students, staff and communities of Drayton Valley and Brazeau County.
As a long time resident of DV and living directly across 43st from the proposed new school l have a large number of questions. Construction timelines, proposed roadway changes. Access and direction of all student parent traffic and what impact on a once quite street. Appearance of the Front of the school hopefully facing west will be pleasing and attractive. Is there any site plans or architectural drawings that l can view before the May 5 meeting. Thank you. Bruce. Clemmer
