Trustees

The trustees met for the last time as the next meeting on October 28 will be the newly elected Board, taking office after the October 20 elections.

We also recognized three trustees for their long service as sponsored by the Alberta School Boards Association.  Daryl Scott has served three terms, Mae Tryon has served three terms, plus an additional term for Twin Rivers School Board, and Heidi Hetherington has served 2 ½ terms.  Congratulations and thank you for your dedication.

World Cafe

The Board will change the way they hear Directors’ reports, moving away from the previous accountability reports presented yearly.  They will adopt the World Cafe as a means of engaging with Directors.  This is a structured process that is designed for sharing knowledge in small groups, with sharing and reflecting with the larger group at the end.  This will be scheduled for the new board later this year.

Board Discussions

Trustees had conversations regarding some of the new legislation regarding Fairness and Safety in Sport, as well as the Opt In / Opt out Sex Education.  They discussed topics for their meetings with the MLA’s in December, and they shared the highlights from the school council meetings that they attended.
