Policy 20 Receives Board of Trustees Approval

At the March 15 Board Meeting, the WRSD Board of Trustees approved Policy 20: Welcoming, Caring, Respectful & Safe Learning Environments. Before granting approval, the Board reviewed the changes made to Policy 20 by the policy committee based on the feedback received from staff, students and community members. The Board discussed changes made to the initial draft of Policy 20 that ensured parental rights were protected, that the policy gave clear direction for its implementation and gave all students a safe learning environment. Alberta Education will now review this policy before it is officially implemented in WRSD.

Edwin Parr Selection

The Board of Trustees met with two potential first-year teachers to decide who would represent WRSD at the zone level. Brittany Cazes from Caroline School was nominated for her outstanding contributions in classroom planning, teamwork and dedication to teaching.

Becky Janishewski from Breton High School was nominated for her outstanding abilities, preparation, passion for teaching, and involvement in school activities.

After meeting with both Becky Janishewski and Brittany Cazes, the board was left with a very tough decision. In the end, Becky Janishewski was selected for the Zone 4 Edwin Parr Award. Click here for more information on her selection.

The Board would like to thank Brittany Cazes for attending the meeting and being a fantastic applicant.
